A single row deep groove ball bearing consists of an inner ring, an outer ring, a single row of balls, and a cage, with raceway grooves deep enough that the ball-to-groove contact curvature lets the bearing carry radial load and moderate axial load in both directions at once — something many other bearing types need a second row or a separate thrust bearing to achieve.
